FIND YOUR PLACE. JOIN THE CREW.
Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ... Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. 1 Corinthians 12:12,27UNTIL ZERO PEOPLE REMAIN UNCHANGED BY JESUS.
It’s a big vision: that no one would be left unchanged by Jesus. Serving on a volunteer team at New Life Church in Wayland is one way you can use your gifts, build relationships, and help carry that mission. Whatever gifts, skills, experiences, or availability you have, God has a place for you to serve others and help build up the Body of Christ.
QUESTIONS ABOUT SERVING:
-
Opportunities exist in every ministry: Kids, Students, Worship, Technical Arts, Prayer, Café, Essentials, Missions, and our Sunday hospitality and safety teams among them. Fill out the volunteer interest form and we'll help you find a fit.
Some teams require a background check or audition/shadowing. Don’t worry… we’ll walk you through the whole process!
-
Start with thinking through what you're drawn to and what you're good at, then talk to us. Serving is one of the clearest ways we work toward Zero Unfulfilled Callings… helping people find where their gifts actually meet a need. If you're not sure, say so on the form; we'll ask a few questions and make some suggestions.
-
It varies by team and your availability. Many of our Sunday teams serve on a rotation rather than every week, so you still get to attend a service and worship with your family. Your team leader will lay out the rhythm before you commit to anything.
-
There's real work happening the rest of the week. Essentials, our volunteer-run storefront, needs help during store hours, with inventory, at special events, and on the prayer team. Other ministries (like our Facilities Team) have midweek and behind-the-scenes needs too.
-
Tell us. We'd much rather move you somewhere you thrive than have you burn out quietly in the wrong seat. Serving is a form of discipleship, so we really care about helping you find a spot that suits you and helps you grow too!

Someone from the ministry you're interested in will reach out. Usually the next step is a conversation, then a Sunday or two shadowing the team before you're on the schedule — so you can see what it's like before deciding.
