YOU CAN GROW. WE CAN HELP.
FOLLOWING JESUS CHANGES EVERYTHING.
At New Life Church in Wayland, discipleship is the lifelong journey of becoming more like Jesus. Jesus meets us where we are, but He doesn’t leave us there. He invites us to know Him, find freedom, discover why we’re here, and become the kind of people through whom His Kingdom moves into the world.
JUST AS YOU RECEIVED CHRIST JESUS AS LORD, CONTINUE TO LIVE YOUR LIVES IN HIM… COLOSSIANS 2:6–7
The Journey of a DiscipleThere isn’t a finish line to discipleship. There is always another step toward Jesus.
At New Life, we think about that journey through five movements:
AND THEN IT BEGINS AGAIN, AS GOD USES OUR LIVES TO HELP SOMEONE ELSE KNOW HIM.
KNOW GOD > FIND FREEDOM > DISCOVER PURPOSE > MAKE A DIFFERENCE > ADVANCE THE KINGDOM
Disciple Making
Disciple Making
A lifelong journey of becoming more like Jesus, and helping others do the same.
Know God
Come close.
This is where the journey begins. Not with knowing more about God, but knowing Him.
To be known. To surrender. To learn His voice and His ways. To build a life around His presence.
Let it become the way you live.
“Come near to God and he will come near to you.” James 4:8
Find Freedom
Bring it into the light.
Freedom begins when we stop hiding and start telling the truth.
Jesus meets us in the places where we are stuck. What is confessed can be healed. Old patterns can break. Grace begins something new.
You do not have to stay stuck.
“You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:32
Discover Purpose
There is a life with your name on it.
You were made on purpose, for a purpose.
God has placed gifts in you, shaped a story through you, and prepared good work for you to step into. Purpose grows as you walk closely with Jesus.
Your life is not an accident.
“We are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works.” Ephesians 2:10
Make a Difference
Let love become visible.
The love of Jesus was never meant to stop with us.
It moves toward people. Toward needs. Toward neighborhoods, schools, and hurting families. We make a difference when the love we have received becomes something someone else can feel.
Let love take shape in action.
“Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16
Advance the Kingdom
Carry the Good News with you.
Someone carried the story of Jesus far enough for it to reach you.
Now you carry it too. Across a table. Across the street. Into the ordinary places you already live and work and belong.
Help someone else begin the journey.
“How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news.” Romans 10:15
