GIVING
When we are generous, we reflect the heart of God, who is the most generous giver. This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth. 1 John 3:16-18

We want to be a people known for radical generosity. All giving goes towards our vision of seeing ZERO PEOPLE unchanged by Jesus.
Generosity is a practice that is taught throughout the entire Bible. When we give, we are expressing worship in a tangible way by putting God first in our lives. It’s an opportunity for us to give God our thanks, show God we trust Him, and resist scarcity in our hearts...all while allowing us to be a part of the most important work in life that is spreading the good news of Jesus in Wayland and beyond!

A tithe simply means giving the first 10% of what we receive back to God. But more than a percentage, tithing is a practice of trust. It reminds us that everything we have is ultimately a gift, and that God is our provider.
We don’t tithe to earn anything from God or to check a religious box. We give first because generosity has a way of loosening our grip on what we have and teaching our hearts to trust the One who gave it to us. For many of us, tithing becomes one of the most tangible ways we move from full control toward full surrender.
Jesus said, “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:21). Generosity doesn’t just reveal where our hearts are. Over time, it helps shape where our hearts are going.

We believe financial health is about more than having the numbers work. It’s about learning to live with freedom, wisdom, contentment, and an open hand.
If money feels overwhelming, or you simply want to become more intentional with what God has entrusted to you, we’d love to walk with you. Whether you’re trying to build a healthier budget, work through debt, begin giving consistently, or discern your next step in generosity, reach out to our team. We’d be glad to help connect you with practical resources and people who can help.
Please contact our church office, if this is you! We’d love to point you in the right direction: admin@newlifewayland.org

Most giving at New Life goes into our General Fund, which fuels the everyday ministry and mission of the church. From Sunday mornings and kids and student ministry to caring for people, serving our community, and creating space for people to encounter Jesus, your generosity becomes part of something much bigger than a single program.
From time to time, we also receive designated gifts for specific initiatives or opportunities. If there’s something particular you’d like to support, you can designate that on your giving envelope (for in person giving) or use the drop down menu in our Online Giving Portal.
At the end of the day, generosity is less about controlling exactly where every dollar lands and more about placing what God has given us back into His hands and trusting Him to use it well.
